Studio brief 01 – The design process
In
the studio brief 01 the design process I have learnt a lot of new skills that
will apply to briefs to come, and also things I need to do in every brief that
I get.
This
was a brief I really enjoyed doing, I thought the design process wasn’t going
to fun, but I found doing the folds and layout was a great project to do and a
good project to do as the first on of the year to get me back into doing work.
The
brief was very open which aloud me to create whatever I wanted. I want to do
the artwork I love doing minimal and modern, the tasks on folds and the design
possess really helped me in creating an idea. Research and peers crits helped a
lot in this brief. The crit where we asked to go round the class room and write
down feed back on there work was a really good crit and I feel we should do a
lot more of them crits you get so much more feedback.
In
this brief I made a mistake that have done before in the first year, not doing
a prof print and check that the fold works, instead I went to the print room
and printed off straight away and it came out wrong the first time but fixed it
after. In each project I should always prof print my work to check it and make
sure everything is ok. I will defiantly do this more this year.
The
work I produced came out so well and how I wanted it look and am very pleased
with it. The artwork is modern and minimal exactly how I wanted to look and
really clear and easy to follow, I really focused on making it clear as I feel
this is the main factor you need to focus on when making a leaflet and I feel I
have active it. I experiment a lot with folds and stock in this brief, which
helped me to come out with the best outcome. Last year In my final year presentation
for PPP I said I wanted to experiment more with stocks and I’m happy I have
started to do that already in the first project.
If
I was to do this brief again or make any changes to what I did, I would
defiantly create more ideas and look and a lot more different layouts and look
in magazines and books for inspiration. However idea I did was the idea I
wanted to do straight away and I knew it was going to come out well and I feel
it has. But in the brief to come I need to experiment more on the ideas part
and also in my research try to not just use the Internet all the time.
This
has really help to me to get back in the swing of thing and get back into uni and
I’m looking forward to the rest of the projects in this module.
