For this campaign the typeface needs to be bold, clear, legible and formal. This is an awareness promotion so it needs to be strong whilst putting a serious message across.
Most of the type is going to be in Sans Serif as it’s bold and will be easily readable when people walk past. I have used two different fonts on separate posters, Alternate Goth Com and Times. Alternate Gothic Com is a font I have never used before but I’ve always wanted to use it. The typeface works as both formal and serious. As a Sans Serif it is very legible meaning that it can be processed easily by passers by, perfect for an awareness campaign. Sans Serif is more appealing for these adverts as its modern and the party culture is a slightly recent lifestyle that many young adults live, this is why it’s a good choice.
For the Body text and subheadings I have used Times as I’m trying to create the definition style on Google when searching a word. This also makes it standout from the other type even though it will be marginally smaller. Using the two typefaces has kept the posters exciting however Times is still a serious and formal typeface, so it has worked well with the chosen Sans Serif, keeping the theme into the guidelines of ‘serious’.
