I went back home to my local fishing shop that I worked at
for 3 years to look at different fishing books on knots to help me understand
and see the most important parts of the book I need to focus on.
The main thing I need to look at when designing my book is
the layout look at the book I found that having an organized step-by-step
layout that can be used on each page makes it easier to follow and understand
the instructions. To do this a must it to have each step numbered this make the
reader understand what order it goes in also I feel that giving each
step-by-step some around it will make it clearer. The step-by-step will be on
one page with a introduction to the knot on the other page.
Looking at fishing book covers in the shop and online some
are very simple using a couple of colours and other are really bright and bold
too much colour, however I like the full colour front cover as it makes it
standout on book shelf. I think will use a maximum of 4 colours looking at book
cover my favourite colours together are blue, black and white also grey, white,
black and red, I think the blue will be more successful as blue reminds me of
water.
The size of the book is really important and I think for
this step-by-step book on knot the perfected size is A5 because it pocket size
and also it will fit in most fishing bags. Also A5 is big enough to fit all the
text and images on each page and it means the type can still be big so it is clear
and easy to read.
