OUGD504 - studio brief 03 stock book 2

From the crit the feedback was to use 120gsm on the inside pages, in the print room james has 120gsm hp regular which is smooth and plain white perfect for the inside pages and thick enough the stop the images going through the paper. On the cover the peers suggested to use a coloured stock between 200gsm and 280gsm, at Fred Aldous they had lots of different coloured stock some really bright however i wanted a colour to be used on all 3 publication and also to look profession. The grey stood out its not too bold and dark its light and calm, the grey looked profession and clean and the black type on the cover would stand out really well and still be legible. The grey is 270gsm a thick cover it gives it something to grab hold of and it give it texture it will work well with the thin inside pages it will give the book different textures and feels.

For the strap it need to be around 120gsm to make it easier to fold and to keep shape, the strap was always going to bold and bright and to stand out from the cover of the publication, so it need to be bold and colourful but to also work with the grey. Placing colours next to the grey vermilion really stood out and complimented each other, the red was bold and clean really stood out on the grey but didn't take everything away from the grey. At Fred Aldous they had the paper at 135gms which was perfect for the strap still a bit thick but will be easy to fold and to keep shape.

The different stocks and weights will make the book more tactile and more exciting to touch and open.
