I started off by trying different fonts and also trying it landscape and portrait.
I try a number of different types of font I looked at Century gothic, Helvetica, Didot, Slab font and many others. I decided on a font called DIN Condensed Bold I felt it was bold, clear, clean and strong, I wanted a bold and clear to standout so it catches the public eye and to be clear so it would be easy to see and read.
I next look at landscape and portrait I wanted the writing to be rows to look like it was on shelves in shop display and to make the SALE part clear. I try landscape first as I thought I could make the text bigger than portrait, when I made it on landscape I felt there was too much white even though I wanted to have some white space on my posters It didn’t look right having all that white on the right of the poster.
Then I try it on portrait I felt it fitted really well the right balance of white space and text.
Once I have found the right typeface and decided on portrait poster
I then worked on my images for the poster. From my research and ideas I looked at shop signs like trolley signs and bag sign in supermarkets I would to recreate them and use them on my posters, I stared off by creating a shopping trolley when I made it looked ok not the best and when I placed it on the poster with the write it didn’t look right and when I added the pound symbols it made it look really cheap and not professional.
After creating the trolley I started to think how I could create and image of my poster and I decided to create a bag that you would get from a high street shop because that was what I was focusing on mainly in my research for studio brief 03 clothing shops tactics to get you to buy. So I made a simple bag you get from Top man or Office and it came out well and I was happy with it, but I felt I need to add some shapes or a pattern like the office and urban outfitter I looked at in my research. So I created triangle shape and used different shades of black.
I then turn my attention to the £ sign it looked very plain a boring. So I looked at pound coins and made a simple looking £1 coin even though it was simple you could still see it was a pound coin. The colour of it before was very dark and didn’t look bright enough so I changed it to almost gold colour because when I think of money I think of wealth and gold represents that the best. I also tried to have the coins in red so i could still have the red SALE sign but it didn’t right.
